The delicate balance of promoting yourself in business and not selling your soul down the river. It’s an art. We all know shameless self-promoters who seem to succeed because of their gall to over-expose themselves. We may even be envious of how many ‘likes’ they get or how many followers they have on social media. Perhaps you have sneaky ways of counting other businesses client base. I remember working for a major supermarket chain as a 15 year old and being sent across the road to their major competitor to do a trolley count. They were more interested in the opposition than in focusing on their own positive growth. Be mindful that there is a consequence to those who may abandon their integrity just to always be seen whether it be on social media platforms, promoting themselves as the biggest and best, or self-aggrandizing in public.
Remember too that a large portfolio of clientele does not always equate to quality business or ease in business dealings. The other side is to not having the courage to promote your good services for fear of failure and how others may perceive you. Playing it safe does not encourage soul growth and will inevitably mean your business suffers. This sentiment goes out to all those in the marketplace who are learning this refined art of selling their services whilst remaining centered and true to themselves. It is important to stand behind your services, knowing you are being truthful and authentic about what you are offering your clients.
Any act of a desperate sale will create an energy where the relationship between you and the client will reflect the same. With self-review and being confident that your real self is good enough, you can beware the trap for the need for constant external approval. We’ve all heard the studies, serotonin (our feel good brain chemical) increases when we get a ‘like’ on social media. It’s addictive. It can lead to obsession and logically figuring out how to get another ‘hit’ and keep us in an anxious cycle of grasping for external validation. This can then spiral you into an egotistical unrealistic reflection of your business. Spiritual practices remind us the only real power is from within and this power is Universal Energy.
Universal Energy is an unlimited fountain from which you can drink from. Take the time to do your daily rituals to connect to this Source and when you are overflowing, go sell what you do knowing you are here to serve your fellow beings and be personally fulfilled – not desperately prove how great you are.
Namaste
