We have all been there and if you haven’t you will go there at some point! Business owner fatigue, lack of interest or ‘lost your mojo’ is both a physically and emotionally challenging time. We are so enthusiastic at the beginning of our business venture, yet, when the fun and excitement settles, we are left with a business that constantly requires new energy, new ideas and new direction. It can be very taxing on you as the creator, director and visionary of your business. Without renewed energy and fresh approaches, the business becomes stagnant and lacks creativity. This is a serious situation for any business owner and may require you to simply STOP! Loss of Business Mojo is a big warning sign to put yourself and your health first and maybe do some of the following:
• Take a holiday or some time off – believe me, you can! There is no such thing as ‘I don’t have the time’, ‘I can’t possibly be away from the business’, or ‘I can’t afford it’. These are all limiting beliefs you created, therefore, you have the power to change them.
• Try taking 20 minutes each morning to sit still and meditate, to clear the mind of the frustration and blockage. Start the day fresh, give yourself a chance to enter the day without the issues of yesterday.
• Create exercise at any time of the day. This could be a swim in the morning, a walk during the day, or a Yoga class at night – anything to break up the rhythm that is causing your ideas and movement to grind to halt.
• Stop controlling every situation in your business – give over to others and seek feedback. Gather input from those people who care – ask a business employee, your partner, a friend or family member. Remember your ideas are not always the absolute.
• Try different strategies and activities within your business that you put on the backburner and thought they were not good at that moment in time. Maybe it’s now the time for a new injection of plans.
• Create FUN! This could be taking the staff (or just yourself) ten pin bowling, to the beach during business hours, or doing something that is absolutely unrelated to your business that injects some life back into the place and the people that work there.
• Work on your self-belief, abundance and personal power. You do deserve to have it all! You do not have to be burdened by the drudgery of day to day activities that never change. Take action and ownership to change your business life.
• Finally, if you have tried everything to revisit, reshape, reinvent and you still feel the same about the day to day grind, then maybe it’s time to put into place the art of non-attachment and let this part of your life go to be free and achieve whatever you want.
These are just some helpful tips when the ‘going gets tough’ and the running a business starts to impact your daily life. If you think by just opening the door and turning up each day is what’s required to keep the business running, think again! Delusion maybe your downfall as you may have bought into society who puts these rules in place: you have to work between 9 & 5, you take 1 hour for lunch, you only open Monday to Friday and so on. When the mojo is flat and burnt out do not succumb to the “slave to the grind” attitude as this means you have both mentally and physically checked out! No one said running a business was a breeze, but remember it’s a part of your lifestyle. You come first and the business fits into your daily activities the same way as you fit in eating, watching a movie, and hanging out with friends. Allow your business to be joyful, seamless, rewarding and full of MOJO!!
